Seniors Wellness Cafe - Session

Today I am grateful for this incredible opportunity to facilitate a session titled "Dementia awareness and prevention" at the Malton Women Council platform at the All Is Well - Seniors Wellness Cafe. I appreciate and acknowledge the significance of the session for promoting awareness on the given subject. Dementia is a neurodegenerative disorder and it progresses with the passage of time. I recognize today's session value for a variety of reasons, for instance:

  • Today's session was over the zoom, convenient to participate, no need to travel or drive, simply monitor internet connectivity
  • At this time of the COVID 19 pandemic, while social gatherings are outlawed and social distancing order is imposed, these sessions are blessing over the virtual tone at the Malton Women Council platform
  • This session was cost-effective as it was free of cost, with no need to pay a single $ for this session. This is the magnificent relief and support at this time of the COVID 19 pandemic
  • Today's session was profoundly engaging and appealing. Everyone was welcome to share thoughts and reflect on the subject
  • This session promotes a sense of belongingness and connectivity while non-essential travel is forbidden to control the spread of Coronavirus
  • Personally, I found this session was safe and secure to share observations and knowledge. It was an excellent opportunity to talk about personal experiences related to the dementia
  • Highlights of the session:
    • What is dementia?
    • How it affects cognition, behaviour and physical functioning?
    • Dementia with numbers
    • 10 warning signs of dementia
    • Types and symptoms of dementia
    • What are the risk factors for dementia?
    • Diagnosis and assessment
    • Brain healthy choices/prevention
    • References were shared with the audience
  • This is my journey and insight from today's session while facilitating the session, find sessions that interest you is the recommendation of the day
