EHN Canada - Inclusion and diversity webinar
Today I am grateful to EHN Canada for offering a webinar titled " Inclusion and Diversity: Understanding Mental Health and Substance Abuse in the LGBTQ+ Community" facilitated by Ryan Slobodian, Registered Clinical Counsellor and ALLIANCE Program Leader, EHN Canada with a special guest JuiceBoxx, Canada's Drag Race legend. I appreciate and recognize the value of today's session for a variety of reasons, for example:
- Everyday and today's webinar was over the zoom, comfortable to participate, no need formally dressed up or travel or drive, simply monitor internet connectivity
- Today's webinar was highly significant from a knowledge perspective. It support further advancement in my career growth and development. Today's session broadens my vision and expands the horizon of my knowledge on the given subject. Now I appear more confidant on this topic
- Today's webinar is highly cost-effective for the mental health professionals at this time of the COVID 19 pandemic. It releases the huge financial burden and provides a supportive learning opportunity. I am thankful for EHN Canada for this incredible opportunity
- At this time of the COVID 19 pandemic, while professional meetups are outlawed and social distancing order is imposed, these sessions and webinars are blessing over the virtual tone

- Stigma and discrimination in society affects self, shame, connection with others, health seeking behaviour and core beliefs (Dr. Craig - Affirm model)
- Introducing Juiceboxx (shared personal journey and trasition linked to the topic). The discussion was informative, extensive and with personal experiences with coping. I learned a variety of coping mechanism, connectivity and full of insight when it comes to the inclusion and diversity
- Q and A facility provided further clarity on the given topic
