Saturday and Wellness
Today I am grateful for and acknowledge the value of Saturday. Saturday is the commencement of the weekend. The purpose and meaning of Saturday vary from person to person, from situation to situation and culture to culture. Saturday perpetually induces relaxation, comfort and peace of mind as no requirement to begin a day with alarm or in hurry. Most of the workplaces are off on Saturdays. I recognize its significance for various reasons, for instance:
- Saturday is the assigned holiday for the rest of the countries around the world, people habitually turn off their alarm on this day for enjoying a few more hours of sleep
- People normally do groceries, shopping and visit supermarket or mall
- Before COVID 19, Saturday had been enjoyed visiting farmhouses, beaches, shores or lakefront for relaxation and comfort
- Most of the celebrations, for instance, anniversary dinner, birthday parties and candlelight dinners were part of Saturdays before COVID 19
- Laundry, ironing and preparing for the week are some of the rituals for many people around the world
- BBQ parties and inviting guests for lunch or dinner were the customs for many people before this pandemic
- People visited art galleries, Theaters, Cinemas, Museums, exhibitions, Science centres and aquariums for soothing their aesthetic sense before this novel coronavirus
- Some might be indulged in swimming, jogging, tracking, fishing, camping, boating and cruising on Saturdays before this pandemic
- Now Saturday is spent following public health guidelines as a precaution against the spread of novel coronavirus
- How do you spend Saturday at this time of the COVID 19 pandemic is the question of the day
