Today I am grateful for and appreciate the significance of the webinar titled "Seeking Treatment for a Loved One: How to Navigate the Conversation" offered by EHN Canada, hosted and coordinated by Jeremy (Representative of EHN - Canada) and facilitated by Lynn McLaughlin (Best-Selling and Award-Winning Author, Owner/Founder of Lynn McLaughlin Co). I recognized and comprehend today's webinar for a variety of reasons, for instance:
- Since pandemic, every webinar and session is offered virtually/over the zoom, highly convenient to join. There is no need to formally dress up, drive or take TTC. You just need to monitor the internet connection for the flow of the session
- EHN - Canada is truly and genuinely radiating awareness in the Canadian community at a smooth pace. These webinars and sessions are highly loaded with the information, data and knowledge that further heightened and strengthened the insight and wisdom on given subjects. Great job EHN Canada. I personally, appreciate EHN Canada initiatives
- The facilitator shared her own journey and venture with her daughter, it was sensitive and fine-tuned at that moment. The taken insight and learning from today's session is:
- Some approaches and strategies for caregivers
- Close your mouth and listen carefully
- Do not disclose personal information
- Build trust with the loved one
- Set boundaries, do not cross the lines
- Don't be judgmental, try to listen to their perspective
- What is at the other end? listen
- Reflecting on, meditation and understanding yourself first then focus on loved ones. First full your cup then offer to love one. You can not offer anything from an empty cup
- Identify their own approaches and strategies for solving a problem
- Some grounded techniques may help them to be grounded and intact with reality
- Don't be stigmatized
- Find some middle road to navigate the system - some baby steps
- Mindfulness
- Deep breathing
- Watch some videos
- Identify middle path
- BE proactive
- Keep discussing emotions and their regulations with the children, which might help them to better cope with the situation
- Natural conversation and being proactive is the good strategy
- Normalize the conversation is another way to deal with the situation
- Rely on your senses for getting information
- How to offer caregiving this holiday season for risky behaviour such as not being confrontational, be there for them, meet them in a different locations, public restaurants, giving some candies or cards or a phone call/text
- This is my incredible learning venture with EHN - Canada. I am hooked on being knowledgeable. Find some webinars, sessions or training that soothes your personal, professional or social needs, is the thought of the day
