Turmeric

Today I am grateful for this incredible ingredient/spice called "Turmenic". It is a yellow spice and is easily available in grocery stores. Turmeric is used in south Asian cuisine for decades and even it is a part of every meal except sweet dishes. Turmeric has immense health benefits and is good for the body. I appreciate and recognize its benefits for a variety of reasons, for instance:

  • Turmeric proffers a yellow tone to the meal. It has a bioactive compound called curcumin that has tremendous effects on the body and brain. Its medicinal properties are countless that is why it is used as a herb, medicine and supplements
  • Turmeric has anti-inflammatory properties, is very soothing to the sour throat, inflammation, pain, swelling and redness
  • There are some cuisines that can not be prepared without turmerics such as Karhi, lentils, vegetables, tehari, chat papri and turmeric milk
  • Turmeric milk is very common in south Asian culture after having any cut, injury, wound or scar. It boosts the healing and faster the recovery process
  • Nowadays there are a variety of beauty products with turmeric available in the market such as creams, lotions, balms, ubtan and other skincare produce
  • Personally, turmeric is my favourite spice or herb and I use it in every single cuisine and sometimes use it in smoothies
