Chickpeas

Today I am grateful for and appreciate the significance of chickpeas around the globe. Chickpeas belong to the legume family and appear in a variety of colours such as beige, green, black, brown or red. I appreciate and recognize its importance for a variety of reasons, for instance:

  • Chickpeas are rich in nutrients such as protein, potassium, Vit B, magnesium, selenium and fibre. All of the nutrients are beneficial to the body. Chickpeas are linked with good heart health, diabetes, weight loss and cholesterol
  • Chickpeas are versatile legumes and it blends very well with spices and other ingredients. It tastes varied the way it is prepared, for instance, boiled, roasted, fried, steam, slow cook, BBQ with spices, all of the varieties are very distinct in taste, flavour and aroma. However, boiled chickpeas taste a little bit sweet and tickle the taste buds
  • There are a variety of cuisines prepared and cooked with chickpeas, such as chickpeas pulao/biryani, hummus, chickpeas with chicken, chickpeas with eggs, chickpeas with potatoes, roasted chickpeas, chickpeas curry, chickpeas with paya, salad, chat papri, kathiawari chole, smoothies and its flour is used to prepare for baking goods/chapati/roti/paratha/pita bread
  • Chickpeas are available in the market in a variety of forms, such as organic, regular, flour and their prices are varied, basically depending on the prepared products and ingredients
  • This is my incredible journey with chickpeas. I love chickpeas in the form of hummus, chat papri, gravy with pori, dahi bare chole, chickpeas with chicken and eggs. What is your favourite mode of consuming chickpeas is the thought of the day
