Understanding Mentee Behaviour - TRIEC OMSSA Professional Development

Today I am grateful for attending an interactive session titled "Understanding Mentee Behaviour" offered by TRIEC OMSSA Professional Development and facilitated by Marianne Seaton and John Howley. I have been with TRIEC in a professional alliance as a mentor since the commencement of 2021. I appreciate and recognize the significance of today's session for a variety of reasons, for instance:

  • Today's session was interactive, virtual training and was distinct from a webinar. Participants have participated through video, engaged with each other in large and small group discussions to learn from each other and practiced skill development
  • This session was over the zoom, highly convenient to join at this time of the COVID 19 pandemic. No need to formally dress up, no need to drive or take TTC. You have to monitor internet connectivity for the flow of the session. It was just one click away
  • The session was three hours continued with a variety of engaging activities and discussions. The taken knowledge and gain insight from the session were:
    • The learner introduction: name, role and location. It was done in a group of 5 in a breakout room then share with the rest of the folks
    • Empathy and compassion
    • Exercise #2: Showed a video and then discussed the main theme with the group and reflected on
    • Social exclusion, segregation and inequality (video showed)
    • Breakout room activity to reflect on the above-given topic
    • What the literature says about client-centric
    • CSS workbook
    • Pre and Post learning self-assessment
  • This is my journey with TRIEC OMSSA professional development. I learned a variety of new thoughts and ideologies related to mentee behaviour. I acknowledge and appreciate it
