Toronto Transit Commission (TTC)

Today I am grateful for and acknowledge the significance of the Toronto Transit Commission called "TTC". Since 2013 I have been using TTC for a variety of reasons and purposes and believe that it is a real blessing for Torontonians or any visitor. TTC is a public transit with a variety of transits such as subways, streetcars, bus and accommodation services for people with special needs such as wheel trans. I appreciate and recognize its importance for a variety of reasons, for instance:

  • Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) is possessed by the municipal government of Toronto and was founded on September 1, 1921. It is around 100 years in service and growing tremendously to address the needs and  demands of the Torontonians
  • Personally, I journeyed by bus, streetcars and subways and noticed their excellent customer service with a variety of luxuries in the transit such as seating arrangement, COVID 19 protocols, vehicle stop requests in the bus, tickets, stroller or wheelchair access, seniors or pregnant women seat reservations, get in and get out separate doors, maps available in every transit and most important part is that you can ask a question or clarify anything with the TTC drivers
  • The fare is paid by presto card or cash at this moment. You may reload presto card online and it is the safest mode of paying the fare. If it is stolen, you can easily block the presto card. Presto card is valid for two hours, which means you can travel or change your transit without paying a fare within two hours. There was a token facility before the presto card. You may purchase a day pass and can travel all day with that single pass
  • Once you understand the south, north, east and west direction then it will be manageable for you to transit or move to the destination smoothly and comfortably. Sometimes you may have a bus then the subway and then a streetcar for reaching your destination
  • Every subway offers announcement boards to know about the exact arrival time of the train, accommodation services, elevator services of the stations, change route information, any delays or any accident information. This virtual board is highly advantageous and practical for planning your destination
  • Every subway I noticed and witness some go n grab or convenient stores to offer something basics or newspapers/magazines. You may find a Tim Hortons to have a cup of coffee or tea
  • TTC now offers a variety of merchandise such as TTC umbrellas, T-shirts, pencil cases, face masks, TTC 100 bags, subway ornaments, holiday mugs, bus ornaments, streetcar calendars, kitchen towels, wrapping papers and a lot more
  • The TTC website offers translation in a variety of languages including the Urdu language. It enables and supports the visitor to read and get to know about services and information in their own language
  •  I am from Pakistan and recognize that TTC services and assistance are a genuine blessing and a gift for Torontonians and visitors
