Food Print-session

 Food Print-session

Today I am grateful for and acknowledge this incredible learning opportunity from the session titled: Calculate your Food Print-Ramadan, coordinated by Nawal Ateeq, facilitated by Uzma Javed in collaboration with Flemingdon Community Support Services (FCSS) and The Neighbourhood Office (TNO). Today's session was about making sense of food in connection with Ramadan and earth day. I appreciate and recognize the significance of today's session for a variety of reasons, for instance:

  • Ramadan foodprint and earth: restore the spirit was the topic to address during the session. Today's session was thought-provoking and insightful. The notion was discussed such as how is the waste, animal industry and consumption of meat product causing the imbalance of the ecosystem of this globe? How greenhouse affecting the environment. Uzma gracefully connected the religious ideology, waste and global warning
  • This was a timely reminder for us to understand the significance of the footprint. The taken insight and thoughts from the session were:
    • What is Roza and why a month?
    • What is foodprint? and does it impact the earth?
    • What your diet says?
    • Food waste, can we afford it?
    • Animal agriculture and environmental impact of the livestock industry
    • Shrink your footprint
    • Impact on waste consumption
    • Animal waste including their blood, skin and wastages
    • Pick food that is locally grown
  • Today's session was over the zoom, highly convenient to join at this time of the COVID 19 pandemic and Ramadan. Just require to check internet connectivity as the session was over the virtual mode
  • There was no requirement to drive or take TTC and no need to formally dressed up while staying at home order is imposed
  • This session was cost-effective as it was free of cost, no need to pay a single $ for this session. This is the magnificent relief and support at this time of the COVID 19 pandemic
  • Today's session was profoundly engaging and appealing. Everyone was welcome to share thoughts and reflect on the subject
  • This session promotes a sense of belongingness and connectivity while non-essential travel is forbidden to control the spread of Coronavirus
  • Personally, I found this session was safe and secure to share observations and knowledge. It was an excellent opportunity to learn from each other. Foodprint was a new thought and notion for me
  • This is my journey and insight from today's session, find sessions that interest you is the recommendation of the day
