Today I am grateful for and appreciate The Neighbourhood Offices's contribution to the community at this time of the COVID 19 pandemic. Today's session was highly significant in a sense to touch the subject of wellbeing and mental health.  Wellness during COVID 19 series and today's title was "How to improve your mood when feeling down" facilitated by Riffat Fatima. Her contribution is remarkable to the community when everyone necessitates support and a sense of connectivity at this time of the COVID 19 pandemic, while social gatherings are outlawed. Facilitaor shared 42 scientifically proven ways to improve mood, which surely encouraged to promote insight and understanding on the proffered subject. I recognize Riffat Fatima's efforts and appreciate this session for many reasons, for instance:

  • Today's session was emphatically significant to learn and adapt strategies regarding improving mood while feeling down, taken strategies are from the session:
    • Identify and Focus on the triggers that make you feel down. Once know triggers then do not take a major decision rather be active, not reactive
    • Some people relate themselves with the food to lifting their mood, for instance, eating and enjoying Dahi bara chat, green chillies omelette, gol guppy and sometimes a cup of tea or coffee. Some people eat junk food while feeling low others may opt for frying items, such as, pakora, french fries or fried chicken
    • Some people mentioned the best for them is to talk to someone that might be a friend, colleague, neighbour, cousin, parents, siblings or even uncle/aunt. After talking to them, they feel relieved or relaxed and feel an instant change in their mood. I would say these people are instant charger in our life
    • Dressed up and apply some makeup is worked for some people. It is a good idea to improve the look. Somehow it is an effective and a practical strategy
    • Take a pause or break from routine also help to heighten your mood
    • Crochet, sewing, manage closet, cooking and baking were mentioned for heightening mood
    • Watching a movie, listening to music, Youtube videos and dramas were the strategies for some people in the session
    • Some people seemed to relax and find instant change in their mood after going for a walk and connect themselves with nature
    • Taking shower, faith study, reading a book or novel were also discussed as coping strategies
    • Personally, I do nothing, just rest and rest if not feeling up just to give myself a break from my busy routine
  • These sessions are safe, secure and protected via virtual mode at this time of the COIVD 19 pandemic, while staying at home
  • Over the zoom, it is highly advantageous, beneficial and worthwhile to the community. No need to drive, no need to dress up or travel via TTC, merely need to monitor internet connectivity
  • These sessions are an excellent platform and a floor to learn from each other
  • Everyone feels encouraged, respected and supported to be heard or listened
  • These sessions were cost-effective, free of charge and welcome anyone from the community. It was a kind of virtual community meetup and engagement event
  • Today's sessions encouraged the audience to share and get inspired by each other's ideas for boosting mood. Nowadays, everyone needs some thoughts and strategies for well-being. In this paradigm, TNO plays a vital role in creating awareness in the community and in the end community get supported👍
  • Everyone had endured and mentioned some boost and hike in the mood
